Our Madam Butterfly celebrates the empowerment of woman in this time of growing hypermasculinity. This is Puccini’s powerful opera cut back to 90mins and fused with female empowerment songs of history’s greatest female artists – Aguilera, Aretha, Adele and Whitney just to name a few. Set in the funky warehouse venue LOEV, this is the perfect backdrop for our take on this much-loved classic. Madam Butterfly is a brutal, intense and deeply moving story depicting exploitation and abuse of women. This production challenges that culture and takes a stand. Directed by award winning opera director Julie Edwardson and featuring our wonderful Cut Opera performers. Starring Jason Wasley who plays the entitled chauvinist Pinkerton and we introduce to you Gaetana Pelligrini in the role of Butterfly. This is opera fusion!!
